Heliotropes
Heliotropes
Brooklyn genre-benders Heliotropes began in 2009 when vocalist/songwriters Jessica Numsuwankijkul and Amber Myers bonded over a shared love of Brian Eno and Spacemen 3. They were eventually joined by a rotating cast of collaborators, including drummer Cici Harrison, bassist Richard Thomas and guitarist Ricci Swift. Their sound grew from the earliest experiments with Eno covers into an ever-expanding quilt of sludgy metal guitar tones, introspect shoegaze interludes, psychedelic drone and occasional girl group harmonies. The band’s first recorded offering came with 2012’s Ribbons 7”, followed by their debut LP, A Constant Sea in 2013 on LA’s Manimal Vinyl and Goodnight Records. The following years saw the band touring nationally with stops at the South by Southwest, Firefly and Culture Collide festivals as well as support for Esben and The Witch. Heliotropes has shared the stage with a far-reaching variety of bands like Thurston Moore, The Geto Boys, Matt and Kim, Kurt Vile, Parquet Courts, The Black Angels and The Raveonettes.
BAD POP
BAD POP
Bad Pop is a deluge of raw punk energy wrapped in a layer of psychedelia. A tornado of fuzzed out guitars and swirling, squealing delays. Bad Pop is refreshingly honest and human.
