NONA, a new project led by Los Angeles-based Michael Goldman, is a nod to Goldman's truest self. Through touring and writing with various bands, including Goldroom, Sego, The Moth & The Flame and Meg Myers he has developed a musical aesthetic all his own. Michael states that NONA was propelled as the result of him “feeling the pressure to create and realize something on my own without compromise” With his varied personal influences that include Wilco, Simon and Garfunkel, Mason Jennings, and Carole King he’s been able to create something deep and unique. Buzzbands LA remarks “Michael Goldman practices songcraft that belies his years”
The project’s moniker NONA, a traditional Mediterranean term for grandmother, aptly characterizes the depth of personal reflection embedded in each song. Curious, passionate, understated, and even a little bit out there, the bedroom-birthed indie band is driven by authenticity. NONA is a clear window into Goldman’s Los Angeles rock origins, blending groove-driven indie rhythms with surf-like guitar tones and heartfelt vocals sure to catch your ear and inspire a unique sense of nostalgia song after song. “ There’s definitely something special about NONA, he’s doing something right... ” -Too Many Blogs
