Jalen Santoy
Jalen Santoy
Jalen Santoy Gathers, better known as Jalen Santoy, is a recording artist and songwriter from Charlotte, NC. Jalen grew up in a musical household with a strong jazz influence. Santoy’s journey started at the age of 15, when he released his first record “God”, which caught the attention of rapper Big Pooh. As a result of their collaborative work, Jalen began receiving recognition from platforms including XXL and The Source, early in his career. Fast forward to 2016, and the release of the Charlie Eastern EP. The seven track EP dropped in November, to critical acclaim, featuring standout singles “Foreplay” and “Off the Glass”. To date, Foreplay has tallied over 15 million streams and has been a staple on Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist. With support and acknowledgement from platforms like Fader and Complex, Santoy has become an emerging young star who is primed to make an impact in 2017 and beyond.
De'Wayne Jackson
De'Wayne Jackson
De’Wayne Jackson spent his formative years in a small suburb outside of Houston, immersed in a city that was fast becoming known for its burgeoning hip-hop and lean culture. Now, 21 years old and not satisfied with the prospect of a suburban life, De’Wayne made the move to Los Angeles shortly after graduating high school and was exposed to an existence that was worlds away from his life in Spring, Texas. “Ever since I was younger, I always knew I was a bit of an outsider, but it never really scared me from making my own type of music,” he proclaims. “I just kind of embraced it,” he adds, reminiscing on his musical tastes at the time, which consisted of listening to “a lot of J. Cole and Kendrick” in between singing in his church gospel choir.Don’t Be Afraid is a staggering declaration from the young musical prodigy - a call to arms to outsiders and a soundtrack for anyone who ever yearned for a life less ordinary. In the opening track “Old Steps” we’re greeted with the stunning juxtaposition of an r&b beat stacked against the bluesy guitars. The EP is made up of surprise moments, from the minimal beat of “Watchin” to the inspirational “Do What We Want To,” De’Wayne spits his story with vigor. Within quieter moments, like love struck “Truth Is” and the gorgeously somber “Coming Back Home,” Don’t Be Afraid is, at it’s core, stunningly self-aware debut from a young artist
Strick
Strick
From Milwaukee, WI. Was signed to Tommy Boy Records in 1999, but the deal fell through. Also known as Stricklin.
Danny Parra
Danny Parra
Danny Parra's career in music has been one of a Renaissance Man. He has been a mixer for platinum recording artist 6lack, mixing "PRBLMS" and "Ex Calling," and has produced, co-written and engineered songs with Elohim (Hallucinating, Sleepy Eyes, amongst others), Raury (Butterfly), and Jesse Rutherford of The Neighbourhood, to name a few. Utilizing his background as a DJ and engineer, he has been able to streamline his skills for artists of various genres, lending a hand wherever necessary in the record making process, or as a musical director once it is time for an artist to take their show on the road. In July of 2017, he started the party series “Trust Me Danny,” as way to bring like-minded individuals under one roof in order to showcase and support up-and-coming music and visual artists.
