Taleen Kali
Taleen Kali
She is a writer, musician and L.A. native. After coming up in the DIY scene as frontwoman of riotgaze band TÜLIPS, she debuted her solo act at Echo Park Rising last summer and formed a new live band, expanding her sonic palette with an array of synths, guitar pedals, and sound healing instruments.

She released the “Who The Fuck Is Taleen Kali?” cassette tape via Bandcamp last Spring, voted a “New & Notable” release with “fuzzy, fizzy pop guitars.” Look out for her solo debut “SOUL SONGS,” named after a lyric zine of the same title, slated for release this summer produced by powerhouse Kristin Kontrol (formerly of Dum Dum Girls).

A multi-hypenate to the core, she is founder. of the cult favorite lit and music-minded DUM DUM Zine and teaches Kali Punk Yoga workshops in venues, galleries, DIY spaces, and private lessons throughout Los Angeles.

Poetry, essays and other writing appears in The Onion, FILTER, Entropy, SPIN, Funhouse Magazine, The Bushwick Review, Whole Beast Rag, The NewerYork, TL;DR Magazine, and zines all over the country.
Object As Subject
Object As Subject
OBJECT AS SUBJECT is an LA-based art punk band led by Paris Hurley (vox, drums, dance // Kultur Shock) featuring Gina Young (bass, vox // SORORITY, Feminist Acting Class) and Emilia "Pony Sweat" Richeson (dance, drums). This feminist battle cry is a call to action fueled by raw wailing vocals, a barrage of floor toms, gritty bass riffs, and contemporary dance that converges in the space between Gaga vocabulary + 80’s workout videos.

Dedicated to addressing white supremacist, capitalist, christian, heteronormative patriarchy through music, dance, communal ritual, and direct political action, OBJECT AS SUBJECT weaves a punk incantation inviting you to turn inward, face yourself, free yourself, save yourself, act on behalf of others, dismantle systems of oppression, revel in your joy, feel your sorrow, sweat out your fears, and scream your anger. We practice on repeat and we practice together grounded in the belief that every revolution begins within yourself.

Composition / Choreography / Concept / Vocals / Dance

Paris Hurley is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, dancer, and choreographer based in Los Angeles. A classically trained violinist of 29 years turned punk singer, her work is raw, loud, defiant, and refined, ranging from large scale dance theater collaborations, rock shows, string quartet + orchestral playing, gallery installations, and performances for incarcerated youth.

From 2008-2016, Paris composed, recorded, and toured as a violinist with Seattle-based Balkan punk/metal legends, Kultur Shock, performing hundreds of shows for ravenous audiences in venues ranging from tiny punk squats to 100,000 seater festivals in more than 100 cities throughout Europe. With her powerhouse sound, commanding performances, and outspoken presence, Paris contributed to a steadily growing conversation about feminism within the Balkans, inspiring many in the region to take on their own research, identification, and involvement in the movement.

She started OBJECT AS SUBJECT as a solo project in 2015.

Emilia Richeson is a performer and aerobics instructor. She is very excited.
