First Fire
First Fire
First Fire is an indie rock trio in Los Angeles CA. Their sound and presence can be described as raw, eager, and honest. They draw inspirations from artists like Jeff Buckley, Bright Eyes, Radiohead, and Pedro the Lion. After studying jazz and improvisation at CSUN, their return to indie rock feels as much like a liberation as it does a homecoming. Between confessional lyrics and complex chords and rhythms, First Fire engages the mind and the spirit. This return to deepest passion hopes to encourage listeners to rekindle their first fires as well.

First Fire is releasing their first EP “Proof” independently with a show at the Resident on June 25th, 2018.
Johana Chase
Johana Chase
Johanna Chase is a Seattle-born, award-winning indie singer-songwriter.

Johanna has opened for national acts such as Kristen Bell, Elle King, Robert DeLong, The Wild Reeds, Noah Gundersen and Allen Stone. Her career beginnings have led her to play in notable venues across the country as well as collaborating with Huit Kilos (Ricardo Lemvo), Joey Ryan (The Milk Carton Kids), Robert DeLong (Glassnote Records), and Z the Band (Nas).

Her 2013 studio record #<3was produced by Roger Greenawalt (Ben Kweller, Nellie McKay, Rufus Wainwright) in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Chase’s vocal ingenuity and songwriting continues to shin and pique interests.
Derde Verde
Derde Verde
Shape-shifting rhythms and melodic guitar lines with intimate, heartfelt vocals: DERDE VERDE are named after Val Verde, a rural valley town of coyotes, rolling hills, and big sky, an hour north of Los Angeles. Their music moves effortlessly from the textured energy of krautrock and the intensity of shoegaze, to the intimacy of an acoustic living room performance. LA WEEKLY described the band’s sound: “The spirits of bands like SONIC YOUTH, YO LA TENGO, and SPOON are all at work here, but not always in the way you’d expect. It’s nice to see a group putting some independence back into indie rock.” The band evolved out of the songwriting partnership between singer/guitarist Dylan McKenzie and bassist Jonathan Schwarz. Derde Verde often draw lyrical inspiration from poets like Mary Oliver, or Walt Whitman, and the songs evoke a rich landscape that explores questions of natural, human, and subconscious experience, infused with the textured and stream of consciousness art-rock arrangements crafted by the five-piece.

Derde Verde's 'Meander Belt' EP was released last December on CD, Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, and Bandcamp via Kursaal (Germany).

With a range of influences from shoegaze, to krautrock, to indie electronica, the band’s music has been described as “quietly melodic soundscapes that twist and turn like a wild stream, refusing to be pigeonholed” (LA RECORD). L.A. Weekly notes, “The spirits of bands like Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo and Spoon are all at work here, but not always in the way you’d expect. It’s nice to see a group putting some independence back into indie rock."

After touring the US and Europe, opening for artists like Faust, funk-legend Bernie Worrell, and punk-legend Mike Watt, Derde Verde are now putting the finishing touches on their next release. The band's last EP, Let Me Be A Light, has been praised by L.A. Weekly, LA RECORD, and among others, and is available on 12” Vinyl, CD, and download via iTunes and Bandcamp
